The photos in this gallery are from Cartersville, Kentucky, a village of 4,000 people, six miles from Berea, Kentucky, where I lived, two different times, for a total of 4 1/2 years. The village is in Appalachia. My photo-mentor, Warren Brunner, and his daughter, lived close by. Cartersville is in Garrard County. Included is a video of Lublin, a town ten miles from where my mother and grandmother were born, in Poland. All images by Loran Joly, graduate of New York Institute of Photography.
